Kettering General Hospital Maternity
Services in 2007 delivered 3,755 women who gave birth to
3,798 babies. A further 91 women were also delivered at
home by our Community Midwifery Staff.
Our Maternity and Children’s Services are priority
investment areas for Kettering General Hospital. We are
looking at a £15M capital investment to create a
purpose built children’s facility, co-located with
Maternity Services and a new Midwife Led Delivery Unit.
There is also considerable revenue investment to increase
our midwifery and healthcare worker staffing levels.
We will be extending our Midwifery Service into Children’s
Centres to ensure women accessing the Maternity Service
have more choice of where to be seen and we will be working
towards achieving Baby Friendly Status to ensure the Breast
Feeding message is high on our agenda.
A County wide Maternity Services Liaison Committee was
initiated in November 2007. This is an independent advisory
body that has a key role in the successful implementation
of the recommendations within the Maternity Module of the
Children’s National Standards Framework.
If you are
interested in joining that group as a user of Maternity
Services, your views and experience will help plan, monitor
and improve local services.
