The Horse & Trumpet

Dating from 1710, the thatched Horse and Trumpet started life as the local village pub (as you might have guessed from the name), but it has taken on a new lease of life since 2003. It occupies a delightful spot in the south Leicestershire countryside and has been carefully and sympathetically renovated.

Since opening the Horse & Trumpet quickly established itself as one of the leading restaurants with accommodation in the area. It was awarded 2 AA rosettes within months of opening and went on to be listed as Best Newcomer in Leicestershire by The Good Food Guide 2005 and has received the highest grade in the county every year since. At the Leicestershire & Rutland Restaurant Awards in 2005 the Horse & Trumpet won the Best Fine Dining Award while in 2006 there was even more success with Restaurant of the Year, Best Fine Dining and Best Young Chef.

Dedication to sourcing the freshest, finest food and preparing it in contemporary menus, coupled with friendly and relaxed service and a comprehensive wine list has always been the cornerstone of this success. Customers can always expect the best of seasonal produce to be prepared daily at the restaurant from the bread through to the petit fours. Established favourites such as the crab salad with fennel biscuit and avocado cream and the warm chocolate tart with tamarind ice cream ensure all who visit quickly return. The multi course tasting menus at lunch and dinner are always popular; a selection of wines matched to each course is available to show the food off to its best.

For those travelling from further a field, there are four individually appointed en suite rooms. Each has been lovingly restored and retain a host of original features. www.horseandtrumpet.co.uk
